TIPS

The most common experience for beginners is to have a dream in which they become LUCID for only a brief moment and then they awaken. So don't be surprised if your first lucid dream is rather short-lived.

A common first experience may be as SHORT AND SIMPLE as realizing you are dreaming, yelling at the top of your lungs, 'I DID IT!' and then waking up in your bed.

For some reason, excessive amount of EXCITABILITY and INTENSE EMOTIONS will often wake a beginner right from his/her lucid dream. But it is just that intensity that will result in aborting the whole lucid dream.

The first most important thing for beginners is to learn to avoid getting OVERLY EXITED.

You have to believe that with TIME and EXPERIENCE you will be able to handle more and more intensity without losing your focus or your lucidity.

In the beginning you should contain your excitement as best as you can.

It is a good idea to have a simple goal for your first lucid dream. Something as simple as looking at your hands or even calmly looking around you.

Take baby steps at first until you get the feel of it. The goal is to remain lucid in your dream for as long as you can without either waking up or slipping into a non-lucid dream, and in the beginning it is crucial to pace yourself.

Darklon, I'm here for astral projection

I'm a low-level lucid dreamer and have been for most of my life, in other words I don't have complete control in my dreams but I have control over myself which is not normal for most people in their dreams I hear. I'm still working on becoming fully lucid. I'm trying to develope a trigger in my dreams to help me realize I'm dreaming so I can become completely aware, then from there I might experiment for bit but eventually I'll just move on to my ultimate goal; Astral Projection. I've heard it's much easier to project from a dream, I have also heard that lucid dreaming and astral projection are the same thing so why not?

You are right Darklon  ;D

Lucid Dreaming is just a start up to Achieve Astral Projection , The Ultimate GOAL should always be Astral Projection , Even I have some control of my Dreams (Not much), Sometimes I Astral project from Lucid dreaming , Its pretty easy to Astral project from Lucid Dream.

You just have to feel your physical body when you are Lucid Dreaming, then just tell yourself that "Its very easy to Astral project now", That's it.. You can Astral Project easily  :)

Or you can directly change your dream into Projection by just visualizing the place where you want to visit.

I haven't actually tried that yet, but sometime I don't really get the chance lol, like last night I was fighting off zombies (giant zombies big enough to jump onto and oil rig from the water) in my dream so I didn't get much of a chance to feel my physical self or anything like that to become lucid. I probably could've if I weren't so distracted in my dreams lately; what distracts me the most is I'm frustrated that my old friend which I have a grueling hate for now keeps showing up in my dreams, I don't care if he's helping me fight zombies in my dream, I just want him to leave and it's just like real life; he will never leave me alone even if I don't want to be friends. He's really creepy and was stalking me when I didn't want to hang out a while ago.

I also was driving a really shitty car and it broke down in a parking lot LOL so I took the parts out of the car and used them to turn my mattress into a car. Since that was before the zombies I should've become lucid then but I completely forgot.

Then you should try it once, It takes time.

I think you really enjoy your dreams, I have seen many people who says they doesn't get any dreams at all & I'm the only guy in my friend circle who has experienced Lucid Dream & Astral Projection :(
You can go through some reality checks so that it will be useful for you to know the difference between Dream & Reality, So that you can become lucid easily.

I've read about reality checks like going throughout your day just looking at your hand or something and saying, "Is this real?" or, "Am I dreaming?" so that when you dream you'll do the same thing and realize your dreaming. I haven't actually tried that but what I try to do is notice certain things in my dream that should trigger lucidity for me.

Ya even I have heard that we have to do Reality Checks whole day, But for me doing Reality Checks for 10 minutes before bed is enough for me to have Lucid Dream. So I think you can even try that before going to bed, I hope that 10 minutes is enough for that :)

This is a good practice, but this takes a little more time to achieve, I think Reality checks are like shortcuts  :)

I only gotta do it for 10 minutes, ah sweet! lol the only reason I don't already do reality checks is because I don't feel like trying to build the habit throughout the day.

btw, would biting nails count as a reality check? hahaha

Ya biting nails counts, but while you bite your nails, bite your finger often, so that if you get pain, you are in Reality else not.
Will you get any dreams of biting nails??
