Why would I want to meditate?

Meditation has been around since long time. A few minutes a day will bring positive effect on your health and happiness experience. When you meditate you come in first place to rest. You let stress go and get overview of your life. It helps you relax and help you know yourself better. You come as it were closer to your true nature. Meditation can also be a spiritual experience.

In addition, meditation has many health benefits. Meditation actually lowers the concentration of stress hormones in your body. Your blood pressure decreases and soothes your body and recovers. When you can control stress you can keep your body healthier. Several studies have shown that people who meditate significantly visits doctor less often than those who do not meditate.

How am I supposed to sit?

To meditate, you have sit or lie as you like. The basic posture is the lotus position keeping your left foot on your right leg puts and vice versa.

The point here to meditate is to calm and concentrate, and therefore it is important that you have no physical discomfort. Make sure you meditate in a quieter place, not too bright surroundings in which you can not be disturbed. Turn off your phone and your computer.

  • You can meditate cross-legged or in the lotus position. Make sure you put your head in line with your back so that your spine is straight.
  • Meditate on your knees. Sit on your knees and place your feet flat on the ground. Move your buttocks sit on your feet. Make sure your spine is straight.

  • Sitting meditation. Sit in a comfortable chair and relax your body.

Meditate on your breathing

Everyone breathes, which anyone can easily do it. In meditation, you focus on your breathing. Be yourself aware of the flow of air in your lungs, and let the air go again. Do not modify your breath, just take it where it goes. Put constantly focus on your breathing.

Now comes the art: think of nothing!

How can you not think of anything? That is difficult. You will find that when you meditate you will have start getting lot of thoughts. The art of meditation is to let go of those thoughts. Let them come and go and put your concentration on your breathing. You do not have to judge, plan or remember.

Watch your thoughts and let you sail away with the stream of thoughts in your head. Do you find yourself being slowly taken away by your thoughts? Then lay quietly the focus back on your breathing. Eventually, and with some practice, you'll be able to control your mind and your head to really get empty while meditating.

How often should I meditate?

Meditation has a huge effect when you meditate 5 minutes a day. You can define your own time by experimenting. For example, Meditate for a month every day for 15 minutes and see what effect it has on your life. Probably the first time it feels a bit strange, but after some meditation sessions you will feel familiar with it soon.
