Is this the start of lucid dreaming?

Posted almost 9 years ago , by Carly Simoneaux

Okay so a few nights ago, I had just woken up to make my daughter a bottle and shortly after getting back in bed I fell in to a strange state. I felt like I was totally conscious of what was going on, but not able to control what was happening. It felt as though I was hovering over my bed, I could feel my eye Lids fluttering as I tried to wake up but I couldn't get out of it, it also felt like my entire body was tensing up. The next day, I called my mom to tell her about it and she said she experienced the same exact thing at the same time. She described it as her soul feeling like it was leaving her body. This was the first time this has ever happened to us and I feel like us experiencing it at the same time is rare. What exactly happened?

Hey Carly, It sounds like you are close to your mom. And no, it is not rare to act like your mother, especially being a mother yourself. My question is, why did you feel your body tensing? Relax. Have you had dreams before that had your mother in it?
Yes, when I have had a lucid dream, I would feel my surroundings and I guess I could say 'tensing,' but no. What you are describing is a 'tensing' as in pulling, maybe, since you mother says she had the same experience.
