Last night was my first time actually doing this all though I’ve tried to for some few years now. I finally got to the point where I exited my body, but when I got out I turned around and my body wasn’t in the bed, I was gone. This freaked me out and jerked me out of the experience and I woke back up even though I was able to go right into a lucid dream after that so it was kinda a success. Anyways does anyone know why that happened or what it meant?
This isn't abnormal in any way, so don't worry. There isn't exactly a definite explanation of any sort but there seems to be a general consensus on there being different 'shades' of the realm you travel to. This basically means that sometimes you get out in the realm closest to the 'ether'. It is assumed that this is where one can see their body. Things are more true to what they'd look like in the waking world and according to some it makes you visible to one of very high etherical vision (the mediums and psychics and such). Some consider the Astral Plane to be deeper into the mystical spheres whereas mediums and the like won't be able to see you anymore. I can't quite say what causes this difference after separation though it may have to do with REM-sleep and how close you are to it. I'll let you do your research on that though. I've had some times where I opened my astral eyes and saw only a very physical darkness (as if it were a mist) and others where all kinds of weird animals and visions woud fill my room. I don't know what causes this nor will I pretend to, it's better for all of us to try and find out together I think. Good luck on your travels!
