I am new to this site, and have actively been seeking a forum for astral projection. I am a 46 yo male, who during my childhood, teens, twenties and a little in my thirties unwillingly have left my body during sleep. I have in a long time just turned my back to it, but I have found out, that other people experience the same thing, so I want to explore this further. My experiences have been during sleep, where I suddenly feel awake in my mind, but my body still sleeps and I can't move it. A tingling sensation starts in my body like it is filled with tiny bubbles and I hear a sound like when and aeroplane flies through a cloud. Often then I left my body often with a dramatic "fall" out of it down on the floor, where my astral body would hit the floor and jump a little like a balloon. Sometimes I would rapidly float to the ceiling and hit it. I never saw my own body, though. Often I would panick when this occured and I quickly came back in my body. I am perhaps a nervous character, and therefor this kind of experiences scares me a bit. However, now I want to learn to master it.
you and me both! I feel that fear is a hurdle that we must overcome, through my own involuntary experiances, being afraid is what limited and even suppressed my abilities to some extent. I think, part of the journey is to learn that you shouldnt be afraid of leaving your body, you literally have a life line to your body that means you can always go back. besides fear can keep you safe. In one of my involuntary astral projections I came across what I would call a dark entity, it presented itself as a pretty woman sat on the side of my bed, I sat up and instinctually embraced her, then in an instant she turned into something I can only describe as "the old hag" it was almost completely skeletal but with skin on it and I felt it trying to suck the life out of me as I fought it, but I was fighting it the way Id do in physical life, turns out you really need a different approach on the other side, when i realised this wasn't going to work I brought myself back into my body and it ended. Im not saying this to give you something to be afraid of but rather to reassure you that you can go back into your body anytime you wish just by willing it. Now going back in your body is the easy part, but I want to know the same thing you're asking, how to initiate it at will and make it happen in a more conscious way. I hope you get the answers you're looking for.
PS: one thing ive started doing that I never thought I'd find the time for is meditation, I always thought it was really complicated but its really simple actually, and surprisingly enjoyable once you let the process consume you. Now I dont know if its going to help with astral projection but its certainly teaching me about the subtle parts of me that i dont often pay attention to.
